Submit Your Encaustic Art

The entry period for this exhibition ended on November 30, 2020.

Entry Information

We are excited to open up submissions for our 3rd Online Wax in the D Exhibition. This opportunity is open to all encaustic artists worldwide—the only requirement is that encaustic paint or clear encaustic medium is a significant material used in creating each piece. Mixed media is acceptable, as well as any subject or style—realistic to abstract. You do not need to be a part of the Wax in the D group to enter, so please invite other artists you know who work with encaustic to submit. Click here if you’re interested in learning more and joining the group.

Up to 5 images may be entered for an entry fee of $15, payable online or by check. The deadline for this juried show has been extended to November 30. Awards for 1st place and Honorable Mention will be announced after the Exhibition opens.

Important Dates:

  • October 1: Submissions open
  • November 30 (Midnight): Extended deadline for submission and images sent by email (more information below)
  • December 15: Notification
  • January 1, 2021: Exhibition opens online through 2021

The selection of artwork for the exhibition will be made based on the technique used (does it meet the requirement for materials used), the creativity of the work, and the quality of the craftsmanship in execution and presentation. Both 2D and 3D work will be considered. Work shown in previous Wax in the D online exhibitions is not eligible (click here to view the previous exhibition).

Please read carefully the information below on how to submit your images.

Submission of Images: The exhibition will be juried from digital images that are submitted online or by email. The quality of the images you submit will have an impact in the selection process. Please only submit your best images or have the artwork photographed professionally. The specifications for your images are as follows:

  • Images should be clear and in focus—this represents your work and will be judged and displayed as received
  • Images should not contain any frame, mat, or watermark
  • Image files should be in high-quality JPEG format (.jpg or .jpeg)
  • Images should be a minimum of 2400 pixels on the longest side
  • File size should be less than 1MB
  • Image files should be named as follows: LastName-FirstName-TitleofArt.jpg (for example: Law-Candace-BlueLagoon.jpg).

You may upload images in the submission form below or send them by email to Entry@WaxintheD.com (please include your name in the subject line of the email). The deadline is November 30 for images sent by email.

You may pay the entry fee online or by check, payable to Color & Ink Studio at 20919 John R Rd., Hazel Park, MI 48030 and postmarked by the November 30 deadline.

Your entry will not be considered complete until your images and payment are received.

Enter Your Artwork

Complete the form below to enter your artwork in the exhibition. You may submit up to five works. All of the information listed is required. Once you start your entry, don’t close the browser tab before you submit your entry or the information you entered will be lost.

Your work will be juried based on the image you provide, so please be sure they are high-quality and representative of the artwork. You can choose to upload your images online or send them by email or CD by the deadline.

When you have finished providing all of the information and images for your entries and agreed to the terms and conditions, click the “Submit” button at the bottom. You will receive a confirmation message if your entries have been submitted successfully. If you are sending your images by email instead of uploading them and/or paying the entry fee by check, be sure they are sent by the extended November 30 deadline. You will receive detailed instructions in a confirmation email.
